A few years ago, while shopping for resort wear in Capri, I discovered the most exquisite beach hat I had ever seen.  I had to have it!  The owner of the store explained that it was designed by a young fashion designer from Rome,  Gemma Del Vecchio.  Gemma has a home on Capri and we made arrangements to meet.  Gemma, who is only 30 years old, is already well on her way to becoming a star in the world of Italian fashion.  She was a finalist at the XVII Concorso Nazionale Moda Giovani Stillisti, and she has already presented her own couture collection at “Alta Moda” .

Gemma’s hat starred  in Picky and Pushy’s impromptu photo shoot in the lobby of The Grand Hotel Quisisana.   I paired Gemma’s hat with a Chanel bathing suit, Chanel jacket, and pearls.  I love my hat!   I always try to connect with Gemma when I am in Rome.  In January, 2014 we were  lucky enough to meet her  in the penthouse of Rome’s Sofitel Hotel for cocktails and a private tour of her show, “Papuasia’s Shadow”.  Keep your eye on Gemma.  She could definitely become the next Valentino or Frida Gianinni.  The clothes she designs are beyond beautiful.
