Diana Vreeland: The Eye has to Travel Event at The Costume Council

Because I have been inundated with questions about the Costume Council I am going to start posting photos from those incredible events we planned beginning with the year I was the Chair in 2012-2013.  As you will see we had exciting informative events featuring incredible speakers and interviewers, fashionable guests, celebrities,  dream locations and generous sponsors. By the way, if you have any invitations from previous years,  photos of our events or old copies of our newsletters, please send them to me.  It would be fun to get a complete collection together going back to the beginning of the council over 60 years ago!  Let the fun begin!

Here was the invitation for our first event of the season.

Our first event was  a special preview screening of  Diana Vreeland: The Eye has to Travel followed by a Q&A with the film’s Director, Lisa Immordino Vreeland and Booth Moore, Fashion Critic for the LA Times.

Our check in table was staffed by Costume Council volunteers. Our theme was inspired by Billy Baldwin’s “Garden in Hell” design he created for Vreeland’s New York apartment

Our speakers, Director Lisa Immordino Vreeland and our interviewer, Booth Moore.

One of our guests, Andy McDowell

And the famous fashion icon, Peggy Moffitt.

Nick Butler, Jacqueline Bissett and Diana Vreeland’s son, Tim.

As this was my first event as Chair, I was pretty excited. Here I am with Tony, meditating before I got up to welcome our guests, thank our sponsors, and  make introductions. We had a full house, 500 guests! We  followed with a   lovely reception in the courtyard.
